Nonapeptide-1, also known as Melanostatine-5, is a biomimetic peptide that targets MC1 receptors on melanocytes. By acting as an antagonist to alpha-MSH (melanocyte-stimulating hormone), it competes to block the receptor and inhibit the production of melanin. This results in a visible brightening effect, reduction of dark spots, and an even skin tone.
